What is Candid Community?
Candid Community is a set of resources that will help you locate funding opportunities and increase organizational and staff capacity.
As a member of Candid Community’s network of nonprofit-serving organizations, Cooper Foundation provides Waco nonprofits free access to:
- Foundation Directory
- GuideStar
- Candid Learning
Resource Access
Where do I access Candid Community Resources?
- ANYTIME & ANYWHERE: Candid Learning includes organizational and staff capacity resources and can be accessed anywhere in the world, at any time of day!
- LOCATION SPECIFIC: Foundation Directory & GuideStar are databases that must be accessed when connected to the internet at the following locations:
- All Waco-McLennan County Library branches: click here to see the branch locations and hours of operations.
- Accessible through personal laptop or library computer.
- Cooper Foundation (1801 Austin Avenue): Starting Tuesday, December 3rd, the downstairs of the Cooper House will be open on Tuesdays* from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm for individuals connected to a Waco nonprofit to access the resources.
- Accessible only through a personal laptop.
- *The Cooper House will not be open on 12/24 & 12/31 for the holidays. The house will be back open starting 1/7/2025!

Foundation Directory:
Foundation Directory is considered the most extensive, up-to-date database of charitable giving, with more than 140,000 funder profiles and more than 1 million recipient records. Over four million grant opportunities are added to the directory every year, providing nonprofits a wide variety of potential funding opportunities. Funder types in Foundation Directory include private foundations, community foundations, federal agencies, corporate giving programs, and more.
